Meet Chris

QA Team Lead

Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!

-Ms. Frizzle

Chris works cross-functionally and with his QA team to ensure our product is the best it can be! Through countless tests and adjustments, he makes sure we are getting it right.

What drew you to Granify?

After having a long employment history in retail and social research, I was interested in learning more about how a company was going to use AI/Machine Learning/Maths to change the retail world. Especially considering all the buzz around how things such as automation are increasingly having an impact on society.

What has been your biggest accomplishment here?

I've been a part of developing our cross-functinal team and the best ways to help each other achieve our goals and have an impact on growing and evolving what Granify is doing.

What have you learned since joining Granify?

I've learned more about what makes a tech team work well together and what the team can accomplish together when there is a clearly communicated objective. I've also learned more about software applications such as Github, Charles Proxy, and Figma.

As a parent, how do you find balancing your family and your work at Granify?

The main thing is being fair to both my family and my work with how I spend my time. I make sure to as as efficient as possible at work during the day so I'm able to focus on my family in the evening. It is nice that there is the flexibility to get work done at home should I ever have to.

What is something unique about you?

A bit of my family history is unknown. On my mother's side we can only trace ourselves back about four generations to a child that was found in a boat. They named him Billy Boates, thus my mother's maiden name is Boates.

What was your most unusual job pre-Granify?

I once worked a temp job in a factory in Nisku. I spent nearly 12 hours a day grinding pipes destined for the oil field, work that I imagine now should be 100% automated. It was very different than being at a startup!
